WHAT AREA ARE YOU GOING TO VISIT?

01. SAN JOSÉ

San José is the capital of Costa Rica and is located in the Central Valley. Over the years, it has developed into a modern and cosmopolitan city. It's interesting to note that San Jose is home to

approximately one-third of Costa Rica's entire population. Additionally, the city is served by the Juan Santamaria International Airport, which is the country's main international gateway.

02. SARAPIQUÍ

San Gerardo de Dota cloud forest is a breathtakingly beautiful region located in the Central Highlands of Costa Rica. This pristine natural wonderland is known for its lush vegetation, mist covered mountains, and vibrant biodiversity. One of the most magnificent bird species that can be found in this region is the resplendent Quetzal. Known for its vibrant plumage and long, elegant tail feathers, the Quetzal is truly a sight tobehold. San Gerardo de Dota offers an excellent opportunity to spot the Quetzal in its natural habitat, making it a must-visit location for bird lovers.

03. DOTA

Puerto Viejo de Sarapiquí is a small town located in the Sarapiquí Canton in the province of Heredia in Costa Rica. It is a popular tourist destination due to its natural beauty and rich biodiversity. The town is surrounded by lush rainforests and several nature reserves, such as Braulio Carrillo National Park and La Selva Biological Station. These reserves offer hiking trails, and birdwatching opportunities

  • DAY 1: NIGHT AT COURTYARD ALAJUELA

    Upon arrival at Juan Santamaría Airport, guests can catch the Courtyard Alajuela or Fairfield shuttle, which runs every 15 minutes. The transfer to Fairfield Marriott Alajuela takes approximately 10 minutes. Check-in begins at 3:00 pm, followed by the workshop introduction at 5:30 pm. Dinner will be served at 6:30 pm.

    DAY 2: NIGHT AT SELVA VERDE LODGE
    We'll start the day with breakfast at 6:00 am, followed by checking out at 7:00 am and departing for the scenic 2.5-hour drive to Selva Verde Lodge in Sarapiqui. Upon arrival at 11:00 am, guests will check in and enjoy a delightful lunch at Selva Verde.
    At 1:00 pm, we'll delve into an afternoon of macro photography at Frogs Heavens. Returning to Selva Verde by 5:30 pm, participants can relax and reflect on the day's photographic adventures. Cap off the day with dinner at 6:30 pm, where stories and experiences will be shared among fellow wildlife enthusiasts.

    DAY 3: NIGHT AT SELVA VERDE LODGE
    We start early at 6:00 am with breakfast at Selva Verde, preparing for a day of wildlife photography and adventure.
    At 6:45 am, we depart for Victor's Feeder and trails, exploring local biodiversity and capturing wildlife in its natural habitat. By 11:00 am, we move on to Pierella Garden, a serene spot perfect for photographing butterflies and exotic flora.
    Lunch is served at 12:00 pm, followed by shooting around Pierella Garden and its butterfly farm from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

    We return to Selva Verde by 5:00 pm, where you can relax and reflect on the day's experiences. Dinner at 6:30 pm concludes our day, offering a chance to share stories with fellow photography enthusiasts.

    DAY 4: NIGHT AT SELVA VERDE LODGE
    Depart bright and early at 6:00 am to kick off the day's adventures.
    After an energizing breakfast at 7:00 am, engage in a thrilling photography session at the Feeder. At 10:00 am, gear up for a short hike into the Primary Rain Forest. We'll provide Robert boots; just bring long socks and pants for this immersive experience. Enjoy a hearty lunch at 1:00 pm, rejuvenating for the afternoon ahead. From 2:00 to 4:00 pm, continue capturing stunning shots at the feeder or venture out to spot the elusive Great Green Macaws.
    Return to the comfort of Selva Verde by 5:00 pm, where you can unwind and reflect on the day's encounters with nature. Gather at 6:30 pm for a delicious dinner, sharing stories and insights with fellow wildlife enthusiasts.

    DAY 5: NIGHT AT QUETZAL LODGE
    Begin your day with a hearty breakfast amidst the natural beauty of Selva Verde at 6:00 am. At 7:00 am, we bid farewell to Selva Verde and embark on a picturesque journey to San Gerardo de Dota, where Quetzal Lodge awaits us, nestled in the heart of nature. Upon our arrival around noon, indulge in a well-deserved lunch at Quetzal Lodge, soaking in the serene surroundings.
    In the early afternoon at 1:30 pm, we set out for Batsu Gardens, a hidden gem known for its rich biodiversity and perfect for capturing remarkable wildlife shots. As the golden hour approaches, we return to Quetzal Lodge by 5:30 pm, reflecting on the day's photographic discoveries and encounters with nature.
    Gather at 6:30 pm for a delightful dinner, where we'll share stories and experiences, celebrating a day filled with exploration and stunning photography.

    DAY 6: NIGHT AT QUETZAL LODGE
    We start our day early at 5:15 am with a departure for the Quetzal morning tour, immersing ourselves in the tranquility of the cloud forest.
    By 10:00 am, we find ourselves captivated by the vibrant hummingbirds at Paraíso Quetzal, capturing their fleeting beauty through our lenses.
    At noon, indulge in a leisurely lunch at Paraíso Quetzal, savoring local flavors amidst the breathtaking scenery. In the afternoon at 1:30 pm, embark on the Quetzal afternoon tour, continuing our quest for remarkable wildlife sightings and photo opportunities. Returning to the lodge by 5:30 pm, take time to unwind and reflect on the day's enriching experiences.
    Gather at 6:30 pm for a delightful dinner, where we'll share our favorite moments and anticipate the wonders yet to come.

    DAY 7: NIGHT AT COURTYARD ALAJUELA
    At 5:15 am, we ventured into the misty Quetzal morning tour, capturing elusive birds amidst the awakening forest. By 11:00 am, back at the lodge, we shared tales over lunch. Departing at 12:30 pm, a scenic drive led us to Courtyard Marriott Alajuela, where we checked in at 4:00 pm. Our final evening at 6:30 pm, we gathered for a heartfelt farewell dinner, reminiscing on the day's discoveries and camaraderie forged in nature's embrace.

    DAY 8: FLY HOME
    On departure day, the shuttle service from Fairfield Marriott Alajuela to Juan Santamaría International Airport runs every 15 minutes, starting from 4:30 am until midnight, ensuring convenient transportation for your journey home.
